Mr. Miyashita and his wife started Kintsugi after the Great East Japan Earthquake. “After thinking about what we could do when we were young and had no money, I started the Kintsugi Project with my friend Hayato Fukasawa, who runs the Kintsugi Library. Using his lacquerware techniques, he repaired damaged vessels and sent the proceeds as donations. This activity comforted me in my emptiness and became my salvation." Miyashita says, "I can't get into it if I can't see the background," and he decides to interview the client about the episode. Masahime also said, "When and where did you get it?
